Yesterday I watched my kids run out of the house, barefoot, to greet their friends coming home from school. They screamed in excitement, they jumped, they hugged. I remember, as a child, I had a special smile when I saw my friends or family. I couldn't control its wideness, its intensity, its span. It had such happiness. Where did it go? I don't have an attic, I don't remember packing it away. When did I smile it last? And why don't I jump anymore?

A long, long time in the future lived people without phones or computers. They didn't lie to each other, and didn't ignore each other at dinnertime. There was nothing to hide.
